Tang Dynasty Hairstyles
Come learn how to fix your hair up into the Tang Dynasty styles used during that time period by the women. You can also learn how to make your own ornate hair sticks. Supplies are limited, so please bring beads, wires, flowers, feathers and a glue gun if you have them and would like to participate. Saturday, 10 am
Kumihimo
Japanese for twisted thread, this is a braiding method that is seen throughout the world. This braiding is characterized by moving threads over a platform, with the finished braid growing out of a hole in the bottom.
In this class you will learn two patterns, which you will be able to take samples home with you.
There is a $5 class fee, which covers the cost of instructions, documentation, two discs, and fibers to complete two samples. Saturday, 11 am.
Classical and Folk Chinese Dance:
This is an introductory class on the differences between Classical and folk Chinese dancing. Included in this class is an introduction and information on a Mongolian Tea Ceremonial Dance. Saturday, 1 pm.
Tang Dynasty Dance I
The Tang Dynasty (618 AD-907 AD) has been regarded as the golden age of dance in ancient China. Learn how to incorporate Chinese dance
movements into your Middle Eastern dance vocabulary. These stylized posed movements were made famous by the Dunhuang Cave art, and traveled into the courts of China through the Silk Road. A brief history of the Tang Dynasty, the
importance of dance during the time period, and dance movements will be covered during this class. Saturday, 2 pm.
Tang Dynasty Dance II
Learn some fundamental Classical Chinese dance movements using the Chinese long sleeves, also called “water sleeves” and perform a court dance using those sleeves. This class builds upon the Tang Dynasty I class. Saturday, 3:15 pm.
European Dancing 101
As there will be European dancing offered as part of our Revel, join us for a slight refresher course. Satuday, 3 pm.
Origami
A two hour event of come and go as you please paper folding for beginners on up. Good for all ages, although ages 10 and under are asked to bring a parent with them. Satuday, 3 pm.
